Originally from small-town North Carolina, Ashton has worked on the financial side of behavioral healthcare since 2006. Since starting in the industry, Ashton has successfully launched and supervised billing departments at multiple, nationally-known treatment facilities.
At each of her stops, Ashton has created and developed thriving insurance departments, including internalizing outsourced billing and creating insurance and admissions departments from scratch. Ashton has held such diverse roles as Operations Supervisor, Business Manager, Clinical Development Manager, Director of Utilization Review, Admissions Coordinator and Director of Insurance throughout the course of her career.
In conjunction with these numerous roles, Ashton has been responsible for multiple successful Joint Commission (TJC/JCAHO) and CARF accreditation surveys. She has negotiated multiple insurance contracts, supervised clinical training and development, overseen quality and compliance, supervised outcomes studies, and facilitated EMR development, CRM development, and Revenue Cycle Management for her clients.
Prior to entering the field of Behavioral Health, Ashton’s work portfolio includes experience in Textiles, Government Contracting and Banking.
Brenda Arrieta was born and raised in Orange County, California. In 2005, she began her professional career in the mortgage industry, where she discovered her passion for financial consulting by assisting customers who needed help with payment options. In 2010, Brenda transitioned to the insurance billing and collections industry and discovered her true passion: assisting patients with medical and / or treatment-related financial hardship. In her time in the billing industry, Brenda has been deeply involved in all core functions of the business including, billing, collections, verifications, appeals, and medical records requests.
Currently, Brenda continues to apply her keen understanding of the insurance sector of the Behavioral Health Industry by Managing the Verification of Benefits Department for AVA Billing & Consulting. Additionally, Brenda is responsible for managing the escalated appeals process at AVA.
As a devoted mother of three, Brenda enjoys spending time with her children, cooking and being with family.
Michael has been working in the behavioral healthcare space for nearly 5 years and is passionate about helping those suffering from addiction and other mental health disorders. Michael has worked in a number of roles across the behavioral healthcare spectrum. He started on the front lines, serving as Technician, and later as a BHT Supervisor, at highly reputable treatment centers in both Florida and California. Due to his effective communication and understanding of the space, Michael advanced quickly – eventually serving as Director of Community and Director of Admissions for these treatment centers. After transitioning to the Revenue Cycle Management side of the business, he started working as an in-house verification of benefits and claims follow up specialist. He is now excelling in his role as a Utilization Review Representative here at AVA. He continually advocates for his facilities and feels responsible for ensuring that the client receives the help that they need.
Lindsay has been with AVA for a year now, and is a Senior Utilization Review Representative. In 2004, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Mary Hard-Baylor. She completed a Master’s of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2012. Lindsay has experience in counseling adults, children and families on an array of psychiatric and substance abuse concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, marriage/family issues, and adjustment issues.
In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with foster kids and is a native of Odessa, Texas.
